Chics and Salsa

Now that all the dust from the holidays has finally settled, I finally cleaned and reorganized my room...Pictures coming soon.  I still don't have a headboard, but I am going to take a sabbatical from decorating after the last makeover.  I have no idea where the bags and bags of trash that I took out of my room were hiding...

While at home, I got to spend a lot of time with the beautiful ladies in my life.

On Christmas Day, my sisters and I stole away on one our infamous sister dates.  On the agenda was a movie we had been waiting to see for more than a year...LE MISERABLES but first, we had a feast.

For as long as we can remember, our father has taken us to a restaurant in Laredo, Texas called Mariscos El Pescador, which roughly translates to the fisherman's seafood.  Gosh.  The food there is glorious.  You can never go wrong.

Please excuse my crooked glasses...maybe it's time to upgrade...

We had the shrimp fettuccine, and while it is nowhere near authentic Italian, I can assure you, if you eat here, you will not be disappointed.

The movie and songs were beautiful.  Fontine and Marius were absolutely my favorite characters.  I definitely cried in some of their scenes, but the movie was a tad too long for my taste.  Not to mention, my sisters have played the soundtrack every single day since we saw it.  Every.  Single. Day.

The funny thing is that there seemed to be a large divide between the people who loved it, and the people who had walked in there thinking they were going to see God knows what...At one point in the film, one of the women sitting in the front got up screaming at some dissatisfied viewers to zip it or they were going to be thrown out....they were soon escorted out.  Even my little sister had someone thrown out of the theater.  Things got REAL people.  What I learned:  never come between a woman and her musical...at least not in the Texas, mmkay...

I hope you were all able to spend your new year with close family and friends.  Luckily, our town is not a firework-free zone, so come midnight, everyone lights up the sky, including this girl who burnt her hand with a treacherous sparkler as she sang along in an impromptu musical number to Katy Perry's Firework....

As is custom to everybody and their mother, this is the time of year when we all make this long lists of goals of what we want to accomplish in the next twelve months.  This year is going to be my year.  I feel it.  It should not even try to resist, because I am not going to have it any other way.  I mean it.  I will be taking no prisoners and nobody will be raining on my parade...please...  Here's a couple of my resolutions:

1.  Call the people that I love more often.
2.  Study at my desk, not the comfortable sleep cloud that is my bed.
3.  Adhere to my chore list!!!  Maya's hair is the bane of my existence.
4.  Keep my number of pets to two.  My family is prone to hoarding collecting animals.
5.  Smile more often and look people in the eyes.
6.  Exercise more often, maybe just once a week.  Baby steps...
7.  Brush my dog once a day.  Every day.
8.  Get into graduate school.
9.  Become a better cook.
10.  Make one random stranger feel pretty every day.
11.  Regrow my garden.
12.  Give the bathroom a makeover.  I am in love with beige striped bathrooms.  It must happen.

I should probably stop there.  My list is starting to be more of a to-do than a resolution list.  What are some of your new year's resolutions??
